Overview

Axologic Software Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") operates Canvo at canvo.ca and app.canvo.ca. We take privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

The short version: your campaign data is yours. We do not sell it, share it, or make it public. Ever.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Authentication is handled through Kinde, a third-party identity provider. Kinde processes your login credentials; we receive only the basic profile information needed to identify your account. Kinde's privacy policy governs how they handle your authentication data.

Campaign Data

This includes everything you enter into the app: territory maps, door visit logs, canvasser notes, outcome records, and any other information you add to your campaigns. This data is stored on your behalf and remains yours.

Usage Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to understand how visitors use the canvo.ca marketing website. Umami does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not collect personal information. The data collected (page views, referrers, browser type) is anonymised and aggregated.

Technical Data

We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps. This data is used solely for security monitoring, debugging, and abuse prevention, and is retained for a maximum of 90 days.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Respond to your support requests and communications
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts, important service notices)
  • Monitor and improve Service security and performance
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your campaign data for advertising, profiling, training machine learning models, or any purpose other than delivering the Service to you.

3. Campaign Data — Our Commitment

We make the following firm commitments about your campaign data:

  • We will never sell your campaign data to any third party, under any circumstances
  • We will never make your campaign data public or share it with other users, campaigns, or organisations
  • We will never use your campaign data for advertising, analytics products, or any purpose beyond running your account
  • We will never share your campaign data with political organisations, data brokers, or government entities except where compelled by a valid legal process

If we are ever compelled by law to disclose your data, we will notify you promptly unless legally prohibited from doing so.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We work with a small number of trusted service providers:

  • Kinde — identity and authentication. They process login credentials on our behalf.
  • Umami — privacy-friendly website analytics. No personal data is shared with Umami.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — for hosting and data storage. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and cannot use it for their own purposes.
  • Payment processors — for billing on paid plans. Payment details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never stored on our servers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes. We will not share your information with any party beyond those listed above without your explicit consent, except as required by law.

5. Cookies and Tracking

The Canvo marketing website (canvo.ca) uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Umami analytics uses a cookie-free approach.

The Canvo application (app.canvo.ca) uses essential cookies required for authentication and session management via Kinde. These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled without preventing login.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and campaign data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

When you delete your account or your subscription lapses, your campaign data is retained for 30 days to allow for export or recovery, then permanently deleted. Server logs are deleted after 90 days.

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@canvo.ca.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest for stored data. Access to your data is restricted to Axologic staff who need it to support the Service.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Export your campaign data in a machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Jurisdiction

Axologic Software Inc. is incorporated in Alberta, Canada. Your data is processed in accordance with Canadian federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will comply with applicable data protection requirements when transferring your data internationally.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice within the Service before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was most recently revised.
